This 5 MGD plant underwent a sludge dewatering upgrade in 2011 which included a SPIRAC conveying and automated bin filling system. The automatic control system sequences conveyors and slidegates to provide optimized filling of three bins.
The dewatering installation operates efficiently and automatically and has provided the owner a dramatically reduced solids discharge to landfill, reduced transport and energy costs, maintenance and manpower needs.
The vertical conveyors feed two horizontals which in turn feed load distribution conveyors (total train of eight conveyors). Multiple slidegates controlled by ultrasonic level sensors ensure maximum bin filling.
